Modern poetry has beautiful language, rich emotions, and fresh images, but it can sometimes be difficult to understand. Here Bolaño also used the metaphor of comparing the sky to a “hollow screw.” What are the characteristics of a hollow screw? A silent sigh (like a mist) overflowed from the boy’s eyes. The fog is “transparent and hard.” “Transparent” is easy to understand, but “hard” is difficult to understand. If you connect lTo “hardness” of the fog with the “hollow screw” mentioned above, you may be able to get the preliminary knowledge that the sharpness of the fog is similar to the sharpness of a hard screw. But it didn’t rain and it remained like an unfinished poem.
